Rev. Julius H. McAllister, Sr., For Bishop

My Vision for the Church

The African Methodist Episcopal Church is a great church and has been since its inception.  Reflecting on the church of Allen, African Methodists can unashamedly acclaim that one of God’s greatest gifts to the world is the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  As great as the church is, it can be even better.

For An Even Better Church

  • Develop a Christian Education ministry that focuses strongly on evangelism and stewardship.
  • Establish a system of accountability that will serve both clergy and laity on every level.
  • Seek and maintain quality clergy leadership for local churches.
  • Establish a Pastoral Care ministry for clergy persons.
  • Increase retirement benefits for full-time servants of the church and provide death benefits for pastors’ spouses.
  • Increase educational opportunities for both clergy and laity.
  • Revamp our AME college/university system of governance.
  • Develop more substantive opportunities on the connectional level for equipping for ministry both laity, and ministers.
  • Establish a culture of inclusion for both laity and clergy.
  • Support redistricting so as to bring about growth, development, and equity.
  • Develop revenue sources other than the general budget assessments to help meet budgetary obligations of the connectional church.
  • Embrace and appreciate diversity in worship, even as we celebrate the traditions of our past.
