This 108-unit complex serves low and moderate income earners. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant funds have been used at the apartment complex to combat many social problems in the community. The apartments’ annual operational budget is nearly $1.2 million.  The complex has recently undergone a $4.2 million renovation.

The following events/activities/ministries are offered at the Mt. Zion Apartments:

    • Bible Study
    • GED On-line Program with Poyner Adult Education
    • Student enrichment partnership with McLaurin Elementary School
    • 4-H program with Clemson University Extension Service
    • Summer food program
    • Appreciation day for residents sponsored by First Choice, which provides cleaning supplies to residents
    • Cleaning classes through Clemson University Extension to help residents maintain their apartments
    • National Night Out to offer safety tips to residents, in partnership with the Florence Police Department, City & County Housing Authority, and the East Florence Community Association
    • Annual Easter Celebration
    • Annual Back to School Celebration
    • Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
    • Christmas fruit baskets project
    • All Star Program in conjunction with Circle Park – This program for children and parents is designed to deal with enhancing self esteem and understanding peer pressure.  Participants receive special star recognition upon completion.
